Kaloyan Geshev
Kaloyan Geshev is a prodigy Bulgarian calculator. Kaloyan is the three-time defending champion of the Mind Sport Olympiad and the youngest ever MSO grandmaster of calculation. He finished 6th at the 2022 Mental Calculation World Cup, taking second in square roots, and placing third in versatility. At the 2024 World Cup, he finished second overall, again taking second in square roots, and moving up to second in versatility.
Kaloyan particularly excels at division and roots. In division, he has a personal best in the “standard task” — 10 questions, 10 digit number divided by a 5 digit number, exact division — of 26.05 seconds. In Memoriad square roots — 10 questions, 6 digit numbers to 5 decimal places — Kaloyan’s personal best is 31.5 seconds! Kaloyan also is a strong calendar date calculator.
Kaloyan attends school in Sofia and enjoys mathematics and statistics. He also enjoys climatograms, geography, nature, and travelling — and he hopes to visit Japan. His hobbies include biking, Killer Sudoku, and Hectoc.
Kaloyan is trained by experienced fellow Bulgarian calculator Georgi Georgiev (pictured with Kaloyan); Georgi has 4 top-15 performances at the Mental Calculation World Cup. Kaloyan wants to become a math teacher in the future.
Kaloyan finished third in Season 1 of Calculation League.
