Simulators

    There are a variety of online simulators, as well as some Apple and Android applications, for practicing mental calculation. GMCA’s simulators can be found in the GMCA Simulators page of this website.

  • Memoriad

    Memoriad software can be used to practice mental calculation and memory. For calculation, the main Memoriad software contains six “standard” tasks: addition, multiplication, square roots, calendar dates, division, and Flash Anzan. Memoriad also offers different task specific softwares that provide further practice options for one of the six standard tasks.

  • Calendar Dates

    Katie Kermode — a memory athlete —has an application available for the use of practicing calendar dates here.

  • Flash Anzan

    A customizable Flash Anzan simulator is available from SumoMath here.

    SumoMath also provides an English-language abacus learning platform.

  • CMItalia

    The Italian mental calculation website, hosted by, among others, Domenico Mancuso, contains a simulator for basic operations with some customization.

  • MathDash

    MathDash —- co-created by Season 1 competitor Akshaj Kadveru —- allows one to play head-to-head matches in various “speed math” formats, including some limited pure arithmetic.

  • WorldMentalCalculation

    GMCA panelist Daniel Timms includes a variety of simulators (and also guides) on his website.

    His website also includes information for the simulator Pegasus, maintained by George Lane.

  • DrillYourSkill

    DrillYourSkill offers an addition, subtraction, and multiplication simulator that includes training statistics and a leaderboard. The simulator includes moderate customization although question options are limited to lower difficulty levels.

  • Matiks

    Matiks is an India-based platform offering two-player capability to play mental arithmetic matches involving basic operations of easy-medium level difficulty.

  • MathHeads

    MathHeads has an arithmetic simulator that can be used in multi-player (or you can compete against a stranger). The application does not contain customization other than including three different levels.

  • SoroMath

    Soromath contains highly customizable practice options and a large variety of types of questions (click the button under “mode” to view options), allowing you to build your desired practice program.

  • QuantGuide/Zetamac

    QuantGuide contains a mental math simulator for basic operations. The range of the variables and the total time can be customized.

    Zetamac has a very similar simulator.

  • Teoset

    Teoset offers a customizable simulator that provides for multi-operation questions. The simulator, however, will only present a single question at a time.

  • Mental Math Trainer

    Mental Math Trainer has a simulator that allows for practice of basic operations with a customizable amount of digits. The simulator provides a timer that times each individual question.

  • NumberEmpire

    NumberEmpire is a German website that offers a variety of more advanced math/calculation tools. The website is a “complex calculator” rather a simulator.
